Update to Winter Weather

No one is saying this is being caused by the winter storm - but last night at around 8 pm a boil water notice was issued for the entire city of Austin. Boiled or bottled water must be used for drinking, cooking, and brushing teeth.

Officials are saying the boil water notice could last a few days. So this morning I called both 211 and Metro Access to find out if there are plans to deliver water to people with disabilities or older persons. There are four water distribution sites set up in the city - but obviously you need transportation, and for two of the sites you have to bring your own containers.

As of now, there are no plans to deliver water to vulnerable populations. If there is still bottled water left in the stores, people can pay to have water delivered. That is their option if they can't boil water. Or ask a family member, caregiver, friend or neighbor to help them. City government is doing nothing to assist.

Obviously nothing was learned from the winter storm of 2021.

Emergency preparedness? What is that?
